- Practice Areas
- Malpractice
The term "malpractice" is often misunderstood. Some people wrongly assume that every medical complication is the result of malpractice. Others think that a doctor commits malpractice only if he or she intentionally causes injury, or behaves in a totally reckless manner. The truth lies between these two extremes.
- Negligence
Where someone is injured in a car accident, by a dangerous product, or because of an unsafe condition at a store or other location, a claim for money compensation may be appropriate. Not every claim requires the assistance of an attorney. If the injury is minor and temporary, and if a cooperative insurance company handles the matter in good faith, a person may be able to resolve their claim without hiring a lawyer.
- Insurance Disputes
Sometimes the question isn't whether an injured person deserves fair compensation - it's whether there is insurance in force to pay the claim. Insurance "coverage" disputes can be complicated, and the law in this area is always changing.
- Products Liability
Every day of our lives - at work and at home - we use hundreds of products to help us do what we need to do. The cars we drive, the machines we operate, and the household items we routinely buy at the grocery, are all "products" which can sometimes cause serious injuries. Manufacturers and sellers are responsible for taking reasonable steps to make sure that the products they make and sell are as safe as can be. When an unsafe product causes serious harm or death, a "products liability" suit may be appropriate. This area of litigation is specialized, and can be difficult. Manufactures and sellers will go to great lengths to defend their products, even where the hazards they cause are undeniable and could easily have been avoided.
- Aviation Litigation
Aviation - and aviation litigation - are highly specialized areas. While most of us have flown on an airplane at one time or another, how airplanes and air traffic work is something most folks know little about. Unfortunately, when airplane accidents happen, they are often serious.
